I am a professional photographer located in the Washington DC metro area. I am currently working as a retouching artist at Lee’s Photography in McLean, Virginia and am available for freelance assignments.
My interest in Photography started as a natural affiliation with beauty and narrative. While photography promises a glimpse of the truth, it delivers a tall tale constructed through the vision of the photographer and limited by a mechanical apparatus. Unlike film, Photographs draw the viewer in to a single tableau, asking each detail to be scrutinized and appreciated for what it is. Texture, color, light, and shapes are frozen, allowing me to go back to them again and again. In this world where everything moves at hyper-speed, it is nice to take a step back and really look at a single still image.
Although I occasionally make black and white images, my heart is in color. Bright colors, muted colors, joyful colors. Happy, playful, celebratory colors. The world is already filled with heartbreak and struggle. I feel no need to add to this in my work. I also like people. Old people, young people, people with stories, real or imagined.
