A farm wedding in connecticut

Mike & Kim’s summer wedding at Bunnell Farm was a blast.

Kim wanted a casual farm wedding with a bonfire and s’mores and that’s what she got.

They couldn’t have picked a more beautiful summer day to say “I do.”

Mike’s wry sense of humor kept me on my toes.

Getting ready at camp

The day started at Hemlock Hill Campground where Mike and Kim got ready in a luxury RV. When I first arrived, Mike was wearing a t-shirt that ironically said “Nope, not today.” Despite the sarcastic shirt, he was totally down to tie the knot. Kim’s open backed lace dress perfectly showed off her full back tattoo. After a few false starts, we got her diamond broach fastened to her white satin lace shoes. The groom’s boutonniere and bride’s bouquet were made from paper flowers.

First look & Family portraits

There was no need for a first look as these lovebirds spent the day together from start to finish. We did, however, take some fun photos at the campground before heading over to the ceremony site at Bunnell Farm. Kim and Mike introduced themselves to the horses that would take them to their ceremony. The light was perfect inside the barn. It was a perfect sunny day, with little white puff clouds in the sky. Fields of golden rod and sunflowers made a perfect backdrop for some great images of the couple.

Hilltop Ceremony in a field

Before long, it was time for the ceremony. The guests took a hay ride pulled by horses and tractors up to the top of the hill. Mike’s vows were short, but they brought me to tears. Kim was glowing with happiness as they promised to love one another. They exchanged rings, sealed their vows with a kiss, and took a carriage ride down to the barn.

Now it was time to party, and everyone was in a good mood. The day was sweltering, so Mike exchanged his bow tie and vest for a t-shirt and shorts as soon as possible. The couple had their first dance and father-daughter dance, then cut the pig roast. Guests played lawn games and grilled monogrammed marshmallows over a campfire. The evening ended with an epic water gun fight

It was my first time shooting at Bunnell Farm because it is a new wedding venue. I loved it.
